Key Takeaways:

  • Man in his 30s overcame depression and isolation after losing bladder control from nerve damage by shifting his perspective on incontinence protection from shame to empowerment.

  • NorthShore MegaMax adult diapers provided the reliable protection needed to confidently coach kids' sports teams, travel with family, and maintain an active social life without fear of accidents.

  • Seeking mental health support and openly discussing incontinence needs helped transform adult diapers from a source of embarrassment into a tool for freedom and control.

JD shares their story

Because of diapers, I can’t CAN!

Due to nerve damage from an otherwise minor back injury, I lost full bladder control in my mid-30s. I felt alone and ashamed. As a husband, father, and friend, I felt weak and that I was doing something wrong. I struggled with depression and anxiety.

I felt like I should use the smallest amount of protection. When those failed me, I became more depressed and embarrassed. I stopped being a good husband, father, and friend. I stopped really living my life.

After multiple embarrassing situations, I needed to increase the protection I wore. So, I tried NorthShore MegaMax diapers. I was ashamed that, as a man in my 30s, I needed diapers. I decided I can’t go out with my wife, attend kids’ events, socialize with friends, travel, etc, because of diapers.

It was not until I was strong enough to seek mental help after much encouragement from my wife that my attitude changed. I realized that MegaMax diapers are not why I can’t, but why I CAN, they put me in control. I realized I should not be ashamed of needing diapers but proud that I have the courage every day to put one on so I CAN live life.

Diapers no longer give me shame, they give me confidence. No one knows what you are wearing, they know what you are doing.

Unfortunately, my incontinence cannot be fixed medically, but I am in control of my life. Diapers have given me the freedom to go out with my wife, coach my kids’ teams, socialize with friends, and travel with my family.

Just like you should never be ashamed if you need a brace, glasses, hearing aids, etc. Never be ashamed you need pullups or diapers to live your life. They are the tools that do not limit you to what you can’t do, but a tool to what you can do!

Go live life and be proud you were strong enough to not let incontinence stop you.
