Part of the Village: How NorthShore Helps One Mother's Son With Down Syndrome Live His Best Life

Two smiling people stand arm in arm on a lakeside walkway, posing for a photo with water, trees, and rolling hills in the background. One wears an orange T-shirt, while the other wears a black top with a beige cardigan and carries an orange jacket.

Key Takeaways

Jamie T shares her son Peter’s story

Larger than life smile, laughter, always ready to greet you with a "high five" and the loudest "Yeah"! He always seems to know when you need a hug or pat on the head and absolutely enjoys riding the bus, train and car rides to his favorite places that vary from his paying and volunteer jobs, to the local parks where he can swing for hours, going to the movies, lunch and dinner with family and friends, swimming and doing yoga at the YMCA, visiting the animals at the San Diego Zoo and enjoying the rides and sea animals at SeaWorld!

This is how caregivers, friends, teachers, aides and family all describe my son, Peter. Peter is a 20-year-old young man with Down Syndrome. Although his verbal skills are limited, don't let him fool you - he knows how to communicate in his own way! My husband, who we unfortunately lost in November 2021 and was also named Peter, found the NorthShore products when Peter was in elementary school. As Peter grew older it was a challenge to find incontinence products that were quality and supported his active lifestyle. I am so grateful NorthShore has become part of our family village that supports Peter in achieving his "best life" possible!

I know all too well how incredibly important it is for Peter and others like him to live like all of us – to be able to enjoy everyday life things with additional support. Because of Peter, we belong to a special community where we never take everyday life for granted.

I've been able to help others live "their best life" by recommending NorthShore products and customer support to their "special" loved ones. As a long-time customer, I appreciate NorthShore customer support team members and how they are consistently helpful and understand my son's special needs, which unfortunately, wasn't always the case with other incontinence companies.

So…I decided to share my Peter's story which is really a simple story – without the village of support Peter receives he would not be able to live his "best life" and the products NorthShore has provided to Peter for more than half his life has been game changing, and is definitely a critical part of Peter's village! THANK YOU!!!
