Fitted Briefs: Guide to Incontinence Supplies
Features and Information on Fitted Briefs
What are Fitted Briefs?
Fitted briefs are tab-style diapers. The tabs make it easy to put on and adjust the fit without having to entirely remove pants or shoes. Fitted briefs are different than pull-on underwear style diapers. Pull-ons have no tabs and you must step into them and pull them up. Fitted briefs come in different absorbency levels. However, it is most important to use a proper size diaper or there will be leakage out the leg openings.
Fitted briefs are especially suitable for: a caregiver to change another person, changing in a public restroom or school, a person in a wheelchair, or someone who has trouble stepping into underwear. Fitted briefs also provide the best overnight protection, especially for those who sleep on their sides.
There are 2 choices of materials for the fitted brief exterior, typically called the backsheet. Both are 100% waterproof. Plastic-backed briefs provide superior anti-odor protection. While cloth-like briefs often have breathable side panels to promote skin health and comfort. For more absorbency, enabling the brief to last longer, insert a booster bad into the brief prior to use.
