The test weights below are made in strict conformance with NIST Class F tolerances and specifications listed in handbook 105-1. Class F meets the minimum requirements for local weights & measures officials for examining retail scales, for scale installers & technicians and also industrial, educational and research laboratories.
To determine which test weight is needed for a speicifc scale, please refer to the instruction manual for the scale. In general, scales require a weight equal to 50 to 75 percent of the total capacity of the scale for best accuracy in calibration. Some scales will provide a range of weights that may be used, however, some scales will require a specific weight that can not be modified. Note: If the scale requires a weight not listed, ex: 400 g for calibration, you can use (2) two, 200 g weights to equal 400 g.
- Cylindrical Test Weights: Manufactured from grade 303 stainless steel alloy that possessess closely controlled density, low magnetic susceptibility, good stability and resistance to corrosion and damage.
- Grip Handle Test Weights: Manufactured from a high quality iron and protected by a durable coat of paint to prevent the casting from rusting (silver for avoirdupois, gold for metric).
- 30 lb Combo Kit: Supplied in a case with metal reinforced corners and bottoms with padded handles for easier carrying. Smaller weights are contained in a synthetic leather case that fits into the larger master carrying case.
- Available NIST Traceable certificate (Allow 1 week lead time for certification).
